A rede sueca de supermercados Paradiset anunciou nesta quarta-feira (5) um boicote a todos os produtos do Brasil, em consequência da liberação recorde de novos agrotóxicos pelo governo brasileiro. Do total de 197 agrotóxicos já autorizados neste ano pelo Ministério da Agricultura, 26% são proibidos na União Europeia, em razão dos riscos à saúde humana e ao meio ambiente.

“Precisamos parar (o presidente) Bolsonaro, ele é um maníaco”, disse à RFI o presidente do grupo Paradiset, Johannes Cullberg.

“Quando li na imprensa a notícia da liberação de tamanha quantidade de agrotóxicos pelo presidente Bolsonaro e a ministra (da Agricultura) Tereza Cristina, fiquei tão enfurecido que enviei um email a toda a minha equipe, com a ordem ‘boicote já ao Brasil’”, acrescentou Cullberg.

A Paradiset é a maior rede de produtos orgânicos da Escandinávia. Ela já retirou de suas prateleiras os seguintes produtos brasileiros: quatro diferentes tipos de melão, melancia, papaya, limão, manga, água de coco e duas marcas de café, além de uma barra de chocolate que contém 76% de cacau brasileiro em sua composição.

“Não podemos em sã consciência continuar a oferecer alimentos do Brasil a nossos consumidores, num momento em que tanto a quantidade como o ritmo da aprovação de novos agrotóxicos aumenta drasticamente no país. Decidimos portanto retirar os produtos de nossas prateleiras”, disse Johannes Cullberg em comunicado divulgado à imprensa sueca e publicado com destaque pelo Dagens Nyheter, um dos maiores jornais do país.

“Não temos carne brasileira em nossas lojas, e certamente não iremos comprar”, acrescentou Alexander Elling, assessor de comunicação da Paradiset.

Cullberg espera que sua ação possa levar outros fornecedores a aderir ao boicote. “Não podemos aceitar este tipo de atitude insana em relação ao nosso planeta, ao nosso povo e à nossa saúde”, destacou o presidente.

Glifosato

Três dos 31 agrotóxicos liberados mais recentemente no Brasil são de produtos que usam como base o glifosato, substância classificada pela OMS como potencialmente cancerígena e que é alvo de milhares de ações judiciais no Estados Unidos. Estudos recentes também comprovaram a relação entre o glifosato e o linfoma Não-Hodgkin, um tipo de câncer que tem origem nas células do sistema linfático.

Uma pesquisa da Associação Brasileira de Saúde Coletiva (Abrasco) alertou que, mesmo que alguns dos efeitos de intoxicação por agrotóxicos sejam classificados como medianos ou pouco tóxicos, não se deve perder de vista os “efeitos crônicos que podem ocorrer meses, anos ou até décadas após a exposição, manifestando-se em doenças congênitas” como câncer, malformação congênita, distúrbios endócrinos, neurológicos e mentais.

Segundo o sueco Johannes Cullberg, o Brasil já teve uma das mais progressistas estratégias de alimentação do mundo, mas agora os consumidores do país estão expostos a produtos extremamente perigosos. “Isto é uma loucura”, destacou Cullberg.

“Não posso escolher o presidente do Brasil, mas posso escolher o que vou comer.”
